The Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut are both located on the west bank of the Nile River, near Luxor, Egypt. They are two of the most popular tourist destinations in Egypt, and for good reason. Here’s a whirlwind tour of these two amazing sites:
The Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings is a necropolis, or burial ground, for Pharaohs of the New Kingdom (1550–1069 BC). It is a dry, desolate valley that was chosen as a burial site because the ancient Egyptians believed that it would protect the bodies of the Pharaohs from grave robbers.
The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut
It is a mortuary temple dedicated to Hatshepsut, who ruled Egypt as a Pharaoh from 1479 to 1458 BC. The temple is located at Deir El-Bahari, a cliff face overlooking the Nile River.
After your exploration of the fascinating sights on the West Bank of Luxor, you’ll head back to your Nile cruise ship. As you board, you can freshen up and find a comfortable spot on the deck to take in the panoramic views as the journey towards Aswan begins.
The Nile River Valley unfolds before you, showcasing the lush green fields contrasting with the golden desert sands. You might see traditional Egyptian villages dotting the landscape, with palm trees swaying gently in the breeze. Keep an eye out for local fishermen casting their lines or colorful felucca boats cruising along.
As the sun dips lower in the sky, the golden light bathes the scenery in a warm glow, creating a truly unforgettable experience. You can relax and soak it all in, sipping on a refreshing drink and enjoying the tranquility of the moment. This is a perfect opportunity to capture some stunning photos to remember your Nile cruise.
